As most of you know, tomorrow is the 4th of July. It is a day when BBQ’s, fireworks, and fun in the sun are an all-day event across the US. “The Star-Spangled Banner” is our country’s national anthem that brings everyone together this time of year. Here are our top 5 US national anthems performed by kids. These kids are a very talented bunch, and you may even recognize a few!
1. Marlana VanHoose
Marlana was born with Cytomeglovirus and was discovered to be blind a few weeks after her birth. Overcoming her disability, Marlana put a lot of time into her singing. She would perform at churches, sports events, and singing competitions at a very young age. The video above is of Ms. VanHoose performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the UK vs. Ole Miss women’s basketball game.
2. Anthony Gargiula
Anthony Gargiula has the voice of a 27-year-old! At only 7 years old, this young star performed the US national anthem at the Sienna College Basketball game in New York back in 2006. Fast forward 7 years later, you may have seen him perform on the Ellen Show or even the Today Show. Anthony has even opened for the Jonas Brothers twice!
3. Coco Jones
Here we have a young Coco Jones, who you may be familiar with from the TV Disney Movie “Let it Shine.” When she was just 9 years old, she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” for over 40,000 people at the St. Louis Rams vs. the Atlanta Falcons game. She must have nerves of steel because we wouldn’t be able to sing a note in front of a crowd that large.
4. The Cactus Cuties
This time we have a young group of singers that go by the name of The Cactus Cuties. Ranging from ages 8-13, these Texan girls perform the national anthem at a local basketball game. The harmonization is just amazing and if only they each had a mic, we could hear all of their lovely voices.
5. Carly Rose Sonenclar
Here we have Carly Rose Soneclar performing the US national anthem at a New York Mets Game last year. For those of you who don’t know, Carly was a contestant on the “X Factor” and is also a big broadway star!
