July is National Ice Cream month, which makes a lot more sense than having it be in January or something. The first thing you need to do now that you know this information is convince your parents to let you have a different flavor of ice cream every day for the whole month to celebrate. Go ahead and try, we’ll wait.
That didn’t work? Okay, well then here’s a great compromise. Get your parents to buy into the idea to work in a taste of our 5 greatest ice cream flavors at some point this month. And if these don’t work for you, then create your own top 5 list, or make it a family activity?
Rainbow Sherbet – Wait a minute, we’ve got controversy already with the first selection. Is sherbet the same as ice cream? As far as we’re concerned it is, and what better type of sherbet is there then one that combines all the colors of the rainbow, or at least a few of them. We think this underrated flavor deserves a place on any top 5, if only for the cool splash of cover it provides.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – We don’t care if it was Ben, Jerry or some guy named Bill that invented this, but we do know they were a genius. Finally, thanks to chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, the secret and delicious taboo of eating cookie dough is not only welcomed but celebrated in what is easily one of the top five ice cream flavors ever.
Green Mint Chip Ice Cream – While mint chip ice cream comes in quite a few varieties, the one thing that’s clear to us is that the green kind just tastes better. Don’t believe us? Do a blind taste test. Or do it with your eyes open. We wouldn’t refuse a white mint-chip ice cream offer, but we highly prefer the green kind.
Cookies and Cream – Why do they call it cream? Shouldn’t they just call it cookies? Isn’t the ice cream part implied? Strange name aside, the delicious combination of ice cream and Oreo-style cookies is a true winner. We’ve even talked to folks who don’t like Oreos (gasp!) and even they admit that cookies and cream ice cream is totally delicious.
Vanilla – You know why vanilla is so popular? Because it’s really really good. We think it’s not fair that something plain or unimaginative is called Vanilla, but that’s a testament to just how good vanilla ice cream is. If there’s one ice cream flavor that’s taken for granted it’s vanilla, and we urge you during National Ice Cream Month to not overlook this delectable delight simply because it’s so popular.
So what are you waiting for? Get out and have some of these, or anything else you like! Which one are you going to get first? What flavors should we have included on our list? Do you feel us on the green mint chip call, or do you like the white kind? Let us hear you scream for your favorite ice cream in the comments!
